Although its proper name is Aponogeton, most refer to this plant as the Hammer Leaf Aquarium Plant. This plant thrives in very low to moderate lighting and in medium temperatures. It is a very appealing addition to tanks, and you will find your fish and other aquarium creatures will love this addition.

The leaves are a sleek green color, and they tend to sway at the top, providing a unique look to tanks. The Hammer Leaf Aquarium Plant is often sold as bulbs because they’re easy to grow. Regardless of how you purchase it, you’ll be glad you did when you add it to your tank!


    The plant grows in wet, shady places and flowers from the end of March to July, fruiting from April to September. It generally grows emerged, but can sometimes be completely submerged.
